SVG to display shooting prowess
December 9th, 2009 | by donvandemark |Over at Ball Don’t Lie comes an article that you just have to file under Bizarre NBA Marketing Decisions. Van Gundy will participate in the three-point shooting as will Chicago Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro and four NBA players.
As you can see in the picture above from SUNY-Brockport, Van Gundy was a guard from 1978-1980 but we have no way of knowing his three-point shooting prowess from that as the three-point line did not come into play anywhere in the NCAA before 1980. He does hold the record at SUNY-Brockport for consecutive free throws made at nine. Wonder if he uses the underhanded shot for it.
While I’m sure Van Gundy can shoot it as he wouldn’t have signed up otherwise, I’m not sure he’s necessarily built to have the stamina needed for the final rack. Good luck to Stan anyway.
